is it just me or is everyone in my age group going through life-altering changes, major issues, creating new lives with / without others, etc.? it's just a time of change. and i doubt it is only because it's spring. |

I ordered a stuffed bunny from the lovely Jen at Zooguu when we ran into her at ArtMart in early May. She was great, and I was pleased because she had already made a blue bunny and it was waiting in her studio. (She had white and brown bunnies with her, but no blue.) I emailed after a week, asking where my bunny was, and of course it arrived that day. *embarrassed look* I didn't hear back, but I emailed her when it arrived and said, "Oops! it's here!" She actually followed up and thanked me, and explained that she had issues with her email, and was totally sweet. But really, after a lot of crafters and other people could (and do) slack off in "customer service," it was pretty nice of her. I would recommend her to anyone. Not just for emailing me back, of course, but because my blue bunny is so awesome and I adore her infinitely. The care she took in making it is obvious. I think I'm naming my blue bunny Beatrix, but I'm not sure... all my stuffed animals have names, though I admit I forget them sometimes.  zee bunses Originally uploaded by Pink Pfeffernüsse i am sooooo tired. i think i shall have a glass of wine and do some reading, and then nap on the futon. working 6 hours on a sunday = not my idea of fun. my bank balance will be a positive thing, though. dinner was nice, and so was the weekend. i will update when my brain isn't malfunctioning. le sigh. for right now, i bring you disapproving bunnies! Blizzard?! BLIZZARD? It's March, for god's sake. And it's Baltimore. Craziness. Not like I am complaining, mind you. Just surprised. But the snow, it is beaaaaautiful!

We have adopted a kitty. Her name is Annabel Lee, unless she decides that she doesn't like it at all. Not like kitties ever come when they're called, of course, but we need something to use to refer to That Cute Cat We Fell In Love With. It's a long story of how we got her, which will be explained in another post. But we have adopted a lovely, 5-month-old, very sweet and purring kitty. Right now she is investigating the second bedroom, which is where she's being kept until we take her to the vet this week for a checkup. This photo doesn't do her much justice, but the shelter posted it online... We will be taking more later of course. May I introduce you to the new family member, Annabel Lee?  ETA: We may need to rename her "Purrbox" or "Motorkitty" because seriously, how can a cat be able to purr while walking around, AND leaping after toys, and doing everything else? I nearly killed myself trying not to step on her because she is apparently the "weave netween your legs all the time" sort of cat. Jared and I are rotating "parent duty" and visiting her in the Guest Room of Seclusion, and she purrs like mad whenever we come in. What adorableness. I got to have a cat leap on my stomach and rub her face on mine for a bit, which was a definite highlight. What a darling.

Happy new year, everyone! Hope it was safe and wonderful. I managed to sleep through the actual countdown, lamely enough. Maybe some of you had a more eventful one... Either way, here's to a happy, love-filled, and prosperous 2009.

i guess jared and i have been spoiled because we are a heterosexual couple. we were able to get a marriage license and get married without anyone judging us or making us jump through hoops. we never had to fight for our ability to marry one another. after reading some of the stories of gay couples who are able to get married now, i am tingling with excitement. i know marriage may not mean something to everyone. in fact, some people are content to be together all of their lives and never have that formal legal "commitment." but i truly believe that everyone, regardless of sex, should have the chance to join in a union with their partner. happy anniversary to all of those people in california who are finally able to marry. i am so happy for you. |

this saturday jared is doing a 100 kM bike ride in ellicott city, to support research, advocacy, and education on diabetes. my dad has it, his dad has it, and it's a disease that affects a lot of people. no pressure to contribute, but i might as well give you guys the option. if you do donate, comment on this entry and tell me, and you will get a photo of jared in bike shorts. or a thank-you note, at least. if you want to donate money to jared's bike ride, please do so thanks in advance.
